About Us

Knysna West Bible Church officially began in January of 2019, having started as a home Bible study in January 2018. God blessed us greatly, and we steadily grew as a congregation, even during the tumultuous times of Covid, and even amidst 8 different “moves” to various venues. In May of 2024, we officially “voted ourselves into existence,” enabling us to have an identifiable group of church members. Since then, we have affirmed the calling of three elders who lead us in carrying out our God-given mission. In and through all these milestones, the Lord Jesus has been supremely faithful, guiding us in every step, and demonstrating His grace in amazing ways.

What we believe

We affirm the traditional fundamentals of the Christian faith, which are variously listed as the inerrancy of Scripture, the virgin birth and deity of Jesus Christ, the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ, the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the future physical return of Jesus Christ.

We affirm that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are revealed to us as one God in three distinct persons. We take a literal, grammatical, and historical approach to the interpretation of Scripture.

We affirm the traditional Baptist distinctives in our ecclesiology, including the autonomous nature of the local church, the biblical offices of 1) pastor/elder/bishop and 2) deacon, and the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

We believe that mankind is completely lost in sin and that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone.

We live by our blessed hope that when Jesus returns for us, we will dwell with him in complete and perfect freedom from sin.

Finally, we believe that all things done by Knysna West Bible Church must be done for the glory of God alone, in obedience to His Word as our sufficient rule of faith and practice.
